TEK Products, Inc. Steriking® See-Through Self-Sealable Pouches

The Steriking® See-through Self-sealable pouches are intended for use as packing material for medical devices in sterilization by steam, ethylene oxide gas, or by formaldehyde in health care establishments. The common steam sterilization conditions are 3min at 134°C or 15min at 121°C. Not suitable for sterilization by irradiation or by hot, dry air at the temperatures over 140ºC.

The Steriking® See-Through packages are constructed of medical grade paper (70g/m²) that is heat-sealed together with a multiply PET/PP-plastic laminate (12/40µm). Pouches are intended for closing tightly with adhesive strip according to instructions printed.

The paper is a high-weight medical grade with improved barrier and water repellent properties. The controlled pore size provides for effective air evacuation and steam penetration. The specially treated surface facilitates strong sealing against the film but allows fiber-free peeling off without breaks. The paper conforms to the requirements of the European EN 868-3:2009 and it is free from dirt, toxic substances and odor.

Recommended storage conditions are 18 to 24°C and humidity 30 to 60rh%. Do not exceed 40°C for sterile storage area. Pouches should be stored in closed cabinets protected from a UV light source. The process indicator is sensitive to UV light and may change color over time, if not stored properly.

Shelf life of processed pouches/rolls is event related. Facilities should develop a policy identifying events that may compromise the sterility of packaged items. It is recommended pouches are used within three years of the manufacturer’s date. The recommended “best before” date and the manufacturing date are labeled on the carton. Each pouch has a lot number imprinted for traceability and to determine the manufacturer date. This could include a maximum period of time for storage.
